Many say that I am very demanding.
For many, the language of such phrase implies a negative criticism.
However, for me, I take this comment as a recognition of my ability to set goals to achieve. I tend to believe that if one sets a proper goal and has the will to achieve such goal, success is highly likely. If you take control of your life and move towards the direction you are aiming for, success is highly likely.
One way to test whether you have a strong ability to define your life goals is by testing your ability to be punctual. It’s almost like a diagnostic test.
In my own terms, being punctual means being on time for a set occasion. The ” set occasion” becomes the goal you are aiming for. The means to achieve such goal is to motivate yourself to “be on time” so you don’t miss the “set occasion”. I agree that sometimes people can’t help being lazy. However, such excuse is not a very good one. If you can’t achieve things such as “being on time” in order to achieve goals of arriving to ” a set occasion”, what makes you think that you can achieve your life goals?
In addition, the test of punctuality also reveals one’s ability to make commitments. If you agree to arrive at a “set occasion” at a certain time, you should do it. You should do it because you agreed to it. If you agreed to it on your own will then there should be no excuse to not do it. It is important to take into consideration that simple things like punctuality will reveal a lot about your ability to commit to set goals. What’s the point of only completing goals to a certain extent? You might as well complete it. Going half way is the same as doing nothing. Setting goals in life, like being punctual ( as a simple test), is not like a math test or an essay question. You DON’T get part marks. For example, You are either a B student or an A student. Getting a B+ means nothing because it still means you are in the B range. Getting close to an A does not mean you got an A.
You either pass or fail.
You either win or lose.
For people out there who can’t be punctual, remember that it is a test. If you can’t achieve such simple goals, then you might as well accept the fact that you will find it fairly difficult to go far in life.
Being punctual reflects a lot about your personality. So be punctual. Train yourself. It’s not that hard.
